We had a good session last night looking at the effects of different visual impairments and how difficult it is navigating the world if you have problems with vision or are completely blind. The group tried simple tasks like throwing and catching a boccia ball or writing their own name while wearing special glasses that simulated various visual impairments such as tunnel vision or glaucoma. We had a discussion about the impact of visual impairments in daily life and what we and those in authority can do to make our environment safer for people who have visual impairments.
